How To Choose A Landscape Contractor.

1. Is the contractor reputable? Ask for references.

2. Is the contractor insured? Ask to see their liability and worker compensation certificates.

3. Who is physically doing the work? Is your landscaper doing the scaping, sod, sprinkler or brickwork themselves or are they subcontracting bits and pieces.

4. Who is going to design the landscape? Is the design being subcontracted or does the landscaper have their own in house design team.

5. Is the quality and sizing of the plant material right? Does the landscaper consider in their design what plants and more importantly what sizing of plants best fit the architectual design of your house.

6. Landscape construction specifics. Does your landscapers staff know what they’re doing, spacing shrubs properly, properly balanced soil for plantings, good distribution of water thru irrigation system, proper base for brick laying.

7. Clean up. Who is responsible for clean up and the overall apperance of the finished job. When will the clean up happen?

8. Timing. Does you landscaper promise the job in 5 weeks and it’s 7 before it’s done.

9. Payment Terms. How much deposit is required? How much to start the job and how long after completion before the balance is due?

10. Warranty. What kind of warranty is provided? How long is it in effect and exactly what is covered.
